Benchmark Litigation Names Five Partners Among “Top 250 Women in Litigation”

August 2022

Williams & Connolly partners Lisa Blatt, Heidi Hubbard, Enu Mainigi, Ana Reyes, and Katherine Turner have once again been selected for Benchmark Litigation’s “Top 250 Women in Litigation.” The publication also recognized Lisa Blatt as among the “Top 10 Women in Litigation” for the third year in a row. Both lists honor the most accomplished female litigators in the country, selected through in-depth research including case victories, peer reviews, and client comments.

Lisa Blatt has argued 42 cases before the United States Supreme Court (prevailing in 37*) and her cases have addressed a broad range of issues, including First Amendment, arbitration, antitrust, civil procedure, preemption, employment and ERISA, and bankruptcy. Bloomberg has described her as a “legendary high court litigator” while The National Journal likewise has referred to her as a “SCOTUS legend.” Chambers USA (2021-2022) has recognized Lisa as one of five “Star Individuals” and reports that clients describe her as “one of the best advocates today” and her “command of the case law and the way she presents is a work of art.” In 2021, The American Lawyer recognized Lisa as the "Litigator of the Year."  Lisa serves as chair of Williams & Connolly’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation practice.

Heidi Hubbard tries cases in state and federal courts, and before arbitrators, throughout the country. Chambers USA recommends her as an “absolutely top-shelf and enormously talented trial lawyer” with a “genuine jury presence.” Ranked in Band 1 for Trial Lawyers in Chambers USA (2022), Heidi is described by reviewers as “disarming to a jury with her high likability and relatability,” accompanied by “excellent” technical skills and judgment. “A great trial lawyer with a strong track record,” “she is smart, insightful” and “she can see the ball coming.” Heidi currently co-chairs Williams & Connolly’s Products Liability, Torts & Medicine practice group.

Enu Mainigi serves as co-chair of the firm’s Health Care Fraud and False Claims Act and Qui Tam practice groups. An accomplished first-chair trial lawyer, Enu has been leading investigations and trying cases for over 25 years. Chambers USA (2022) has ranked Enu in Band 1 for Commercial Litigation and False Claims Act Litigation, noting that she “wins impressive praise from clients,” who describe her as “a go-to person, a powerhouse” with “a tremendous record in her cases,” “really strategic” and a “rockstar of the first order.” Chambers further noted that “she’s at the top of her game with a number of great clients and really high-profile cases.”

Ana Reyes co-chairs Williams & Connolly’s International Disputes practice group. As a recognized leader of this generation’s rising legal talent, Ana has earned accolades from The Legal 500 as a “Next Generation Lawyer” (2020-2022) and in Benchmark Litigation as a “Local Litigation Star” (2019-2022). The National Law Journal has recognized her multiple times, including on its list of Outstanding Women Lawyers, recognizing “the 75 most accomplished female attorneys working in the legal profession today” (2015). In 2017, the Women’s Bar Association of D.C. named her as its “Woman Lawyer of the Year.”

Katherine Turner serves as co-chair of Williams & Connolly’s Accountant Liability and Congressional Investigations practice groups and is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. She has extensive experience in defending accounting firms in professional liability litigation and regulatory matters, including work for three of the Big Four firms and a prominent national accounting firm. Katherine’s experience in representing clients in congressional investigations is significant, including representation of Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton before the House Select Committee on Benghazi and a recent representation of a government official in a matter before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.
