On September 25, 2025, Williams & Connolly Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation chair Lisa Blatt was featured by Legalytics in an article titled, “The Supreme Court’s Quiet Power Players (2017-2024).”  The publication describes Lisa as having a “rare ‘wins-anywhere’ profile” and one of the most effective private firm attorneys at persuading the U.S. Supreme Court to grant certiorari, often with minimal amicus support.*  Among the twelve private attorneys profiled, Lisa had the highest cert grant rate with about 50% of her petitions granted.  

Williams & Connolly’s Supreme Court and Appellate practice is widely recognized as one of the nation’s best and most experienced.  The practice is led by renowned appellate litigator Lisa Blatt, who has argued 54 cases—more than any woman in history—and has an 81% win rate in cases decided. The practice argued 23 Supreme Court merits cases over the past five Terms—the most for any group in private practice.  During the past two Terms, Williams & Connolly argued nine merits cases.
