Remembering Williams & Connolly Alumnus Larry Lucchino

April 2024

Williams & Connolly is saddened to share the news of the passing of firm alumnus Larry Lucchino. Mr. Lucchino joined Williams & Connolly in 1975, and his legacy includes serving as President and CEO Emeritus of the Boston Red Sox Baseball Club. Mr. Lucchino is widely credited with ending the Red Sox “curse” and helping the team win the World Series in 2004. Mr. Lucchino was also instrumental in transforming ball park design, including Baltimore’s Camden Yards. Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said “Larry Lucchino was one of the most accomplished executives that our industry has ever had.” Mr. Lucchino started his career as a lawyer at the firm and worked alongside the firm’s founder, Edward Bennett Williams, who, at the time, was part owner of the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles.
