Williams & Connolly’s Antitrust Trial Win Shortlisted for “Litigation of the Year” by GCR

March 2023

Williams & Connolly’s successful representation of Endo Pharmaceuticals at trial in In Re: Opana ER Antitrust Litigation has been shortlisted for “Litigation of the Year’ by Global Competition Review (“GCR”). In June 2022, Endo, represented by Williams & Connolly and co-counsel Dechert, won a trial victory in an alleged “reverse-payment” antitrust class-action in the N.D. Illinois, challenging a patent settlement—only the second of this type of case to be tried to a verdict since the Supreme Court handed down FTC v. Actavis.* After less than three hours of deliberation, at the close of a three-week trial, the jury returned a verdict in Endo’s favor.

According to the publication, the GCR Awards honor the world’s leading antitrust lawyers, economists, enforcers, and academics.

The Endo trial team was led by partner Heidi Hubbard along with partners Ben Greenblum, Elise Baumgarten, and Katie Trefz and associates Sam Ford and Kari Lorentson.
