Each year, Law360 recognizes attorneys who had extraordinary wins and contributed most to their practice areas. Winners are selected from more than 1,000 submissions across 38 practice areas and industries. This year, Williams & Connolly partners Enu Mainigi and Kannon Shanmugam were recognized among Law360’s 2017 MVPs.
Enu serves as Chair of the firm’s Health Care and False Claims Act practices. She regularly defends health care companies, pharmacy benefit managers, retail pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes and pharmaceutical companies in high-stakes litigation and government investigations. Her experience representing individuals and corporations in the health care industry includes internal investigations, grand jury probes and other criminal investigations, agency investigations and civil False Claims Act litigation, covering a wide range of issues and statutes, including anti-kickback statutes, the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, federal and state False Claims Acts, Medicare and Medicaid fraud, and other state and federal statutes.
Kannon leads the firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation practice. He is widely recognized as one of the nation’s premier appellate advocates and has argued 21 cases before the Supreme Court, including several of the Court’s most significant recent business and criminal cases. Beyond the Supreme Court, Kannon has argued dozens of appeals in courts across the country, including arguments in all thirteen federal courts of appeals and in numerous state courts.
