On June 20, 2026, Chris Manning and Ryan Scarborough spoke at the annual conference of the Texas chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (TEX-ABOTA) about W&C’s representation of the Perkins Coie law firm in its successful challenge to the President’s retaliatory Executive Order 14230. Chris and Ryan discussed W&C’s response to the Executive Order and the critical role that trial lawyers play in standing up for the rule of law.  At the conclusion of their talk, they were honored with a standing ovation and approached by trial lawyers and judges who thanked W&C for the example that it set last year. The theme of this year’s TEX-ABOTA conference was The Rule of Law on Trial. Other speakers included Brad Edwards, who represented victims of Jeffrey Epstein in a decade-long crusade for justice; Justice Rosalie Abella, who was the first Jewish woman and first former refugee to serve on the Supreme Court of Canada; and Roberta Kaplan, who represents E. Jean Carroll in her sexual assault and defamation cases against the President.
