Partner John Villa is set to chair a two-hour panel on “Ethics & Professionalism in Delaware Practice” at the 38th Annual Tulane Corporate Law Institute conference in New Orleans on Friday, March 20, 2026. The panel will focus on issues confronting lawyers handling and litigating major corporate transactions and offerings. The panel will include four corporate or law firm general counsel and a Judge from Delaware Superior Court.
The Tulane Corporate Law Institute conference is considered one of the premier M&A, corporate and securities law conferences in the country, gathering over 1,000 M&A and securities practitioners, senior corporate counsel, and members of the Delaware Supreme Court and Court of Chancery to explore the most critical issues in corporate law today. The New York Times describes it as “the Davos of corporate law.”
John Villa is Co-Chair of the firm’s Financial Services and Banking practice group. He focuses on the defense of law firms in malpractice suits, and corporate, securities and financial services-related litigation and has represented many of the Am Law 100 law firms. In 2024 and 2025, Chambers USA named John a “Star Individual,” the publication’s highest honor, citing client reports that “John is the ultimate lawyers’ lawyer.” The Financial Times has described him as “the lawyer that major law firms go to in a spot of bother.” John has authored three treatises on the duties of corporate lawyers and corporate directors and officers, and financial crimes, and a casebook on professional responsibility for corporate lawyers. He has taught law school courses on that subject at Georgetown, Columbia and elsewhere. He has appeared in the courts of more than 30 states and argued cases before every federal court of appeals.
