Williams & Connolly Partners Bill Burke and Craig Singer Present at WGLO Fall Seminar on Legal Opinions

On November 4, 2025, Bill Burke and Craig Singer presented at the Fall 2025 Working Group on Legal Opinions seminar in New York. Craig first presented on a panel entitled “Using Legal Opinions as Expert Determinations,” addressing issues presented when a contract calls for a lawyer’s opinion to be a binding expert determination. Craig and Bill then both presented on a panel entitled “Current Ethics Issues Affecting Opinion Practitioners — Receiving Information from Clients: Duty of Confidentiality, Evidentiary Privileges and Reliance,” where they discussed ethical confidentiality issues and related privilege considerations of interest to opinion practitioners.
 
Bill Burke concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, professional liability defense, and investigations. He has defended major law firms in malpractice actions, grand jury investigations, and SEC investigations, has represented individual lawyers in ethics proceedings, and has defended state court judges in lawsuits asserting federal civil rights claims. Bill has extensive experience representing corporations and their officers and directors in contract disputes, fraud cases, class actions, securities litigation, shareholder derivative actions, and other types of complex civil litigation. He also serves as a member of Williams & Connolly’s Ethics Committee.
 
Craig Singer is a trial and appellate litigator with a national reputation for representing law firms, professionals, and other companies and individuals in high-stakes matters. For more than 25 years, Craig has represented numerous lawyers and law firms, including some of the nation’s largest firms, in federal and state courts, government investigations, and arbitration proceedings in many jurisdictions around the country. He is co-chair of the firm’s Law Firm Defense Practice Group.
