Tom Hentoff to Speak at PLI’s “Communications Law in the Digital Age 2023”

On November 9, 2023, partner Tom Hentoff will speak at PLI’s “Communications Law in the Digital Age 2023.”  Tom will participate on the panel “Defamation and Related Claims: Current Issues for Media Lawyers,” where the panelists will discuss issues such as the Sullivan standard in state legislatures, defamation cases involving indisputable public figures, limited purpose public figures in an era of social media saturation, protected subjective speech, defamation claims involving generative AI systems, and Dominion v. Fox.

Tom Hentoff serves as Co-Chair of Williams & Connolly’s Trademark and Copyright and First Amendment and Media practice groups.  His practice is concentrated in three areas: intellectual property disputes, First Amendment and media law, and complex civil litigation.  Tom has represented clients in a wide variety of copyright, trademark, trade secret, defamation, privacy, false-advertising, and class action litigation and counseling matters.  He has also represented clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels.
