Partners Bill Burke and Craig Singer Present at WGLO Fall Seminar on Legal Opinions

On October 31, 2023, Bill Burke and Craig Singer will present “Current Ethics Issues Affecting Opinion Practitioners” at the Working Group on Legal Opinions (“WGLO”) Fall 2023 Seminar. The panel will focus on amendments to Model Rule 1.16 (Declining or Terminating Representation) adopted by the ABA House of Delegates earlier this year.  
 
Bill Burke concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, professional liability defense, and investigations. He has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and federal regulatory proceedings throughout the United States. He has defended major law firms in malpractice actions, grand jury investigations, and SEC investigations; has represented individual lawyers in ethics proceedings; and has defended state court judges in lawsuits asserting federal civil rights claims. He also serves as a member of Williams & Connolly’s Ethics Committee.
 
Craig Singer has represented numerous lawyers and law firms, including some of the nation’s largest firms, in federal and state courts, government investigations, and arbitration proceedings in many jurisdictions around the country. He has particular experience in defending professionals and firms in matters arising from Ponzi schemes and other frauds. He is the author of a book on that subject, Professionals, Firms, and Fraud: Defending Professionals Against Liability For Client Fraud, which was published by the ABA. Craig was elected by the D.C. Bar Board of Governors to serve as a member of the D.C. Bar Legal Ethics Committee, which issues formal opinions on questions arising under the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct.
