Protecting Proprietary Information & Competitive Advantage in the Wake of Reform Legislation

On May 26, 2021, partners Deneen Howell and Elaine Horn will present the CLE program “Protecting Proprietary Information & Competitive Advantage in the Wake of Reform Legislation,” a webcast hosted by the Association of Corporate Counsel, National Capitol Region. Deneen and Elaine will be joined by panelists Helen Dooley, Senior Vice President of Talent Representation and General Counsel, Tandem Sports + Entertainment, and Zoe Sharp, VP, Deputy General Counsel, Optoro. The CLE program will explore recent legislation covering non-competes with particular focus on the current state of the law in DC, MD, and VA. 

Deneen C. Howell is Co-Chair of Williams & Connolly’s Employment Counseling and Litigation practice group as well as its Transactions and Business Counseling practice group. Deneen advises both executives and corporate clients on employment-related matters, including executive compensation, restrictive covenants and internal investigations, and advises corporate clients on an array of additional legal issues, including corporate governance, M&A-related matters and course-of-business transactions.  Deneen also represents individuals in a wide array of personal services matters, including talent agreements for journalists, publishing agreements for authors as well as consulting and advisory agreements and board appointments.

M. Elaine Horn serves as Co-Chair of Williams & Connolly’s Employment Litigation and Counseling practice group.  Her employment practice includes conducting internal investigations, providing proactive counseling and strategic advice on employment issues, and defending employers in a broad range of litigation, including federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate level, administrative investigations and proceedings, and arbitrations.  Elaine also represents clients in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters, with extensive experience in products liability and MDL litigation.
