Pro Bono Client Obtains Complete Victory in a Maryland Criminal Speech Matter

April 2016

Williams & Connolly’s pro bono client obtained a complete victory in a Maryland criminal speech matter in which the court ordered the government to identify all police and prosecutors who listened to an illegal recording in violation of the state wiretap statute. Critical Brady evidence was also uncovered, undermining the credibility of the complainant. Armed with the ruling and new evidence, successful negotiation of the dismissal of all charges followed, and the client was immediately released from jail.

Representation of the pro bono client was led by associates Nick Gamse and Masha Hansford.
