On March 13, 2025, Williams & Connolly client Merck Sharp & Dohme B.V. won an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in ANDA litigation concerning Bridion®, a medication for the reversal of neuromuscular blockade. The court ruled in favor of Merck, affirming a district court decision that Merck’s patent was entitled to a patent term extension of five years and moving its expiration date to 2026.
