February 2024

Law360 features current and former Williams & Connolly attorneys in the article “The Top Attys In Clinton’s Impeachment Trial, 25 Years Later.”  The article details the key attorneys involved in President Clinton’s 1999 impeachment trial and where their careers have taken them in the 25 years since the historic trial.  Among the lawyers featured are Williams & Connolly senior counsel David Kendall and partner Emmet Flood

David Kendall has been at Williams & Connolly since 1978, and was a partner from 1981 to 2014.  He continues his practice as Senior Counsel to the firm.  He has litigated a variety of civil and criminal cases at the trial and appellate levels and has had jury trials in the District of Columbia, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Alabama, and Minnesota.  He has appeared in trial courts in 23 states and has argued appeals in six federal courts of appeal, seven state supreme courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Emmet Flood has served in two administrations as Counsel to the President, Deputy Counsel to the President and Special Counsel to the President.  In the last 25 years, he has advised many senior government officials and has represented central figures in nearly every major legal crisis arising in Washington, D.C.  He has, as The National Law Journal put it, “unparalleled experience counseling presidents under fire.”
