On August 7, 2023, Williams & Connolly secured a victory as court-appointed amicus counsel before the Seventh Circuit. Following oral argument by associate Aaron Roper, who also briefed the case, the court agreed with our argument that the defendant did not qualify as a career offender and that his trial counsel’s failure to challenge that designation was prejudicial.
