November 2017

Williams & Connolly has been named to The National Law Journal’s 2017 “Appellate Hot List.” The special report features 20 honorees which the NLJ calls, “an elite group of lawyers and law firms that posted hard-fought wins at the Supreme Court or in federal circuit courts.” Kannon K. Shanmugam, Allison Jones Rushing, and Amy Mason Saharia are featured in the firm profile, which highlights the successful representation of the financial-services industry in two cases before the Supreme Court involving the interpretation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, successful argument on behalf of Coventry in the Second Circuit in a dispute concerning the sale of life-insurance policies worth over $750 million, and the representation of PNC Bank in the Eighth Circuit in a successful appeal from a $350 million verdict arising from a claim that the bank breached its fiduciary duty as a trustee.
