Overview
Williams & Connolly partner John Villa was a speaker at PLI’s 58th Annual Securities Conference on November 2-4, 2026, in New York City. On November 2, 2026, John spoke on a panel entitled “Ethical Issues for Public Company Counseling.” He addressed fact patterns which often lead to claims against securities and transactional lawyers, with emphasis on the ethical rules that arise in those cases.
John is a partner at Williams & Connolly who served on the firm’s Executive Committee from 2002 through 2017. He focuses on legal malpractice defense and corporate, securities and financial services-related litigation (both civil and criminal). He has been rated Star Performer – Chambers highest rating – for law firm defense every year that Chambers has rated U.S. lawyers in this category, and has authored three treatises and a casebook on this and related issues.
