Williams & Connolly partner John Villa spoke on October 29, 2026, at the AON Symposium in Boca Raton, Florida, on a panel entitled “Building Better Engagement Letters.” His comments reverse engineered (on an anonymous basis) outcomes in major legal malpractice cases to determine how the law firms’ position could have been significantly improved by changes to the engagement letter form and proposed specific provisions to address the issues. The AON Symposium gathers more than 575 leaders involved in the defense of large law firms and includes representatives of the major national and international law firm insurers.
