Eva Esber is an experienced trial lawyer, focusing on civil litigation and arbitration matters.  Ms. Esber’s experience includes, employment disputes, trust and estates litigation, products liability litigation, fiduciary obligation litigation, unfair competition claims, medical malpractice defense, banking fraud litigation, and other commercial litigation.  As one aspect of Ms. Esber’s employment dispute practice, she is experienced in conducting corporate internal investigations of alleged sexual harassment and discrimination.  Ms. Esber also successfully tried a multi-million dollar plaintiff’s case for recovery of sums lost through elder-fraud, which involved both AAA arbitration proceedings and trial in a United States District Court against different sets of defendants. 

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Ms. Esber graduated from Saint Joseph’s University, summa cum laude, in 1981, and received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was Executive Editor, Georgetown Law Journal.  Ms. Esber joined Williams & Connolly in 1985 and was a partner from 1994 to 2015.  She retired from the partnership in 2015, and is now part-time Senior Counsel with the firm, continuing to focus primarily on employment matters, trust and estate litigation, and product liability cases.  Ms. Esber has served on the firm’s Executive Committee, and is a past chair of the Associate Evaluation Committee, the Associate Management Committees, and the Diversity Committee, and was co-chair of the firm’s Employment Litigation and Counseling practice group.  Ms. Esber has been recommended in the 2015 edition of The Legal 500 in the area of product liability and mass tort defense and has twice been recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of “Washington’s Top Lawyers.”
