Overview
An eleven-year veteran of United States Naval Aviation, Liam Montgomery zealously advocates for clients large and small. He focuses on complex civil trials, principally in matters relating to environmental law, life sciences, and financial and actuarial services. Liam has tried or arbitrated numerous cases, including two as the first chair attorney. He has managed and led civil and criminal jury trials and arbitrations for Fortune 50 companies, national banks, international consulting firms, and individuals in federal and state courts across the country.
Liam also actively gives back to the community through pro bono litigation and community service. In 2022, Liam was recognized as a finalist for Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year by Chambers. Selected to the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll every year since 2011, Liam’s pro bono practice concentrates on veterans’ causes and advocating for victims of crime. Liam is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Network for Victim Recovery of DC, a non-profit that provides free legal and social services to the victims of crimes.
Prior to his legal career, Liam served in the United States Navy for more than eleven years as a naval flight officer and forward air controller (airborne) flying the F-14 Tomcat. Liam completed three deployments on board aircraft carriers, including a deployment to the Arabian Sea after 9/11 in support of operations in Afghanistan. He uses the leadership lessons he learned in the Navy to help advance leadership and management in the legal profession.
