Williams & Connolly has represented individuals and corporations charged criminally and/or administratively with violation of a wide range of statutes and regulations governing banking and exports. These include alleged violations of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, the Trading with the Enemy Act, the Cuban Asset Control Regulations, Helms-Burton Act, potential sanctions under the Office of Foreign Asset Control (“OFAC”) and investigations and prosecutions under the Bank Secrecy Act and the Patriot Act. Representative clients include: bank officers in connection with alleged Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act violations, major money market banks in OFAC sanctions inquiries, two major money service providers for Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act compliance and money laundering and major consulting firms on export matters.
