Amy Saharia Argues Case Before the U.S. Supreme Court

On April 19, 2021, partner Amy Saharia presented oral argument to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of petitioners in Sanchez v. Mayorkas, where the question presented was whether, under 8 U.S.C. § 1254a(f)(4), a grant of Temporary Protected Status authorizes eligible noncitizens to obtain lawful-permanent-resident status under 8 U.S.C. § 1255. The firm’s work on this case is part of the firm’s broader pro bono work on behalf of immigrants and asylum-seekers. The case marked Amy’s first argument before the Court. Amy represents corporate and individual clients in high-stakes appeals in the U.S. Supreme Court and federal and state appellate courts around the country. She has argued numerous appeals in federal courts of appeals and has filed dozens of briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate courts nationwide. Amy clerked for Justice Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court from 2010 to 2011.
