Williams & Connolly Elects Six Attorneys to Partnership

January 1, 2021 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - Williams & Connolly LLP is pleased to announce the election of Nicholas G. Gamse, Gloria K. Maier, Luke McCloud, Colleen McNamara, A. Joshua Podoll, and Andrew Trask to its partnership, effective January 1, 2021.

The six new partners are:

Nicholas G. Gamse - Nick Gamse concentrates his practice in First Amendment and media law, and complex civil litigation.  Nick has extensive experience in media and entertainment litigation.  He has represented leading media companies, celebrities, and journalists in disputes spanning a wide variety of issues, including antitrust, breach of contract, copyright, defamation, employment, First Amendment and freedom of speech, government investigations, news access and newsgathering, privacy and theme park disputes.  In addition to an active litigation practice, Nick also provides counselling to media companies and journalists to help identify and address liability issues prior to publication.

Gloria K. Maier - Gloria Maier litigates a broad range of complex civil and criminal matters.  She has significant experience representing media clients in high-stakes First Amendment cases.  Gloria has represented clients in investigations by, and litigation against, the Department of Justice and other government agencies.  Gloria has represented corporations and individuals at all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation strategy, discovery, dispositive motions practice, and trial.  Gloria enjoys providing practical, goal-oriented advice and services to her clients.

Luke McCloud - Luke McCloud’s practice focuses on complex civil matters, with an emphasis on patent litigation and appellate work.  Luke has represented corporations and individuals as trial counsel in a broad range of substantive areas of litigation, including contract disputes, intellectual property, securities and derivative litigation, and professional liability matters.  In his appellate practice, Luke has litigated appeals throughout the federal system, including at the United States Supreme Court, and has argued in multiple courts of appeals.
 
Colleen McNamara - Colleen McNamara concentrates her practice on healthcare and False Claims Act litigation at the trial and appellate levels.  She has represented national retail pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, and pharmaceutical distributors in a range of substantive areas, including state and federal qui tam litigation, government investigations, tort claims, and class actions.  She has represented leading healthcare corporations at all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation strategy, discovery, dispositive motions practice, and trial.  She has served as trial counsel in a high-stakes Medicaid fraud case and as national counsel in a complex federal MDL proceeding with numerous associated state court cases.  And she has litigated appeals throughout the federal system. 

A. Joshua Podoll - Josh Podoll’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels.  He has represented clients in a range of substantive areas, including financial services, securities, antitrust, and media and First Amendment.  He has been trial counsel in cases involving claims arising out of the financial crisis, defamation claims, and claims relating to breaches of complex commercial agreements.  And he has litigated appeals throughout the state and federal systems, including in the United States Supreme Court.   

Andrew Trask - Andrew litigates disputes involving intellectual property and technology.  His practice includes district court litigation, appeals, patent post-grant matters, and commercial arbitration.  With a doctorate in physical chemistry, work experience in Silicon Valley, and a handful of patents to his name, Andrew specializes in learning complex subjects and simplifying them for lay audiences.  He has litigated matters involving pharmaceutical and biotech products, mobile apps and hardware, search and video technologies, wearable devices, and medical technologies.  Patent appeals are a particular focus of Andrew’s practice.  In addition to briefing and arguing appeals at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Andrew also serves as Chair of the Rules Committee of the Federal Circuit Bar Association and he teaches Federal Circuit Practice as an Adjunct Professor at George Mason University School of Law.
