Former Federal Prosecutor Paul Butler Provides Powerful Insights in Chokehold: Policing Black Men

Williams & Connolly welcomed alumnus and Georgetown University Law Center Professor Paul Butler on July 11th for a candid discussion about his new book, Chokehold: Policing Black Men, an insightful and provocative perspective on racial injustice in America. Williams & Connolly associate Krystal Durham moderated the discussion with Paul, one of the nation’s most frequently consulted scholars on issues of race and criminal justice. Hosted by the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, the afternoon program was followed by a book-signing and a reception.

Paul provides legal commentary for CNN, MSNBC, and NPR and has been featured on 60 Minutes and profiled in the Washington Post.  He is also the author of Let’s Get Free: A Hip-Hop Theory of Justice, winner of the Harry Chapin Media Award. He has published numerous op-eds and book reviews, in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, and the Los Angeles Times.
