A native of Washington, D.C., John received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from Yale University.  While at Georgetown, he served as Executive Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and as a student attorney in the Appellate Litigation Clinic.  John was also a Legal Research & Writing Fellow, a Senior Writing Fellow, and a member of the Moot Court team.  After law school, John served as a law clerk for Judge William J. Nardini of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
