Chris Geyer is a patent litigator who has represented clients in district courts, courts of appeals, the United States Supreme Court, and the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO).  He also advises clients on litigation exposure related to new ventures and on how to effectively monetize patents.  The technologies in dispute in Chris’ cases include touch-screens, video receivers, medical devices, software, and therapeutic drugs. He has helped clients invalidate patents, preserve findings of non-infringement on appeal, and avoid hundreds of millions of dollars in liability.  Chris is registered to practice before the PTO.

Chris has also successfully represented several pro bono clients, and has helped tenants obtain relief from their landlords from unsafe and unsanitary housing conditions.  He has also represented veterans, including at the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and in disputes at the local level.

As an active member of the Federal Circuit Bar Association (FCBA), Chris serves on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) Committee, and was recently appointed Vice-Chair of the Rules Committee.  He has delivered CLEs on a variety of topics, including statistical trends in staying district court litigation and the Defend Trade Secrets Act, and will be speaking on a panel discussing claim construction at the FCBA’s annual Bench & Bar Conference in June 2017.

Prior to joining Williams & Connolly, Chris clerked for the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
