Return to News Williams & Connolly Partners Named to the National Law Journal's List of "40 Under 40" July 2009 Williams & Connolly LLP partners Christopher Manning and Kannon Shanmugam have been named to the National Law Journal's prestigious list of "40 Under 40," which recognizes young Washington-area lawyers who "have already made their marks in private practice, in government agencies, on Capitol Hill and with public interest groups."
Mr. Manning was highlighted for his representation of two of the falsely accused Duke University lacrosse players. Additionally, he was recognized for his role in the multi-million dollar settlement for Russ Taylor, the whistleblower on billionaire investor Mario Gabelli.
Mr. Shanmugam was singled out for having argued more cases before the Supreme Court of the United States than any other lawyer currently his age including his most recent, Hawaii v. Office of Hawaiian Affairs, a dispute over the transfer of native lands.
Selected by the journal's editors based on nominations and reporting, the National Law Journal predicts those profiled will play a major role in the legal community.
