Marcie Ziegler's practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, professional liability defense, criminal and civil appeals, and complex civil litigation.

Ms. Ziegler has represented individuals and corporations in a wide variety of criminal matters, including grand jury investigations, post-indictment proceedings, trials, post-trial proceedings, and appeals. She has represented clients in matters involving alleged conspiracy, mail and wire fraud, money laundering, tax fraud, false statements, obstruction of justice, environmental offenses, Food & Drug Act violations, and securities fraud. Together with two of her partners, Ms. Ziegler successfully represented a former executive of a large corporation who was acquitted following a three-month trial on fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering charges. Ms. Ziegler also assumed a significant role in Williams & Connolly LLP's representation of former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros in criminal proceedings brought by the Independent Counsel. She has significant experience in criminal procedure and legal writing (including pre-trial and post-trial motions and appellate briefs). In the past few years, she won a new trial for a client based on post-trial briefing and secured the dismissal of criminal felony charges based on pre-trial motions.

Ms. Ziegler's civil practice focuses on professional liability defense, complex litigation, and appeals. She recently won summary judgment for a major national law firm in a significant legal malpractice action, and she has successfully represented physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice cases. Ms. Ziegler also has represented clients in a variety of other civil matters, including indemnification actions, contract disputes, civil rights and discrimination suits, arbitration proceedings, complex civil actions brought in conjunction with criminal proceedings (such as civil fraud and RICO proceedings), interlocutory appeals, and post-trial appeals.

Ms. Ziegler joined Williams & Connolly in 1993, and has been a partner since January 2001.
