Deneen Howell has extensive experience in a broad array of corporate, transactional, and media-related matters. Currently, Ms. Howell’s practice focuses on executive compensation, employment counseling and severance matters; negotiating publishing agreements, licensing agreements, spokesperson agreements, endorsement agreements, and speakers bureau agreements, as well as executive employment and talent agreements in the motion picture and music industries, print journalism and broadcast and cable television (among other industries). Ms. Howell also advises individuals and privately-held entities on issues such as intellectual property rights, corporate structure, equity compensation, venture capital, securities regulations, and corporate governance; structuring settlement arrangements; and mergers and acquisitions.
Her clients include senior executives, authors, publishers, media producers, public figures, elected and appointed officials, recording artists, furniture designers, and on-air talent as well as large and small companies.
Ms. Howell also has served as a member of the firm’s Hiring Committee.
Prior to joining Williams & Connolly LLP, Ms. Howell served as corporate counsel to The Times Mirror Company, a Los Angeles-based news and information company whose holdings included The Los Angeles Times, where her responsibilities included employment-related matters, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, commercial speech, and First Amendment issues.
