Since joining Williams & Connolly in 2000, Ryan Scarborough has concentrated his practice on pharmaceutical mass tort cases involving diet drugs, vaccines, and menopausal hormone therapy. He has extensive experience in all phases of mass tort litigation, from managing teams of attorneys reviewing documents to defending company witnesses and, ultimately, handling pre-trial and trial matters. Most recently, Mr. Scarborough has played a key role in defending Wyeth at trial in federal multi-district litigation and state courts across the country concerning its menopausal hormone therapy medicines.
Outside the mass tort context, Mr. Scarborough handles a wide variety of other litigation matters for his clients, ranging from legal malpractice claims and commercial business disputes to claims against directors and officers of failed financial institutions. He has also litigated two breach-of-contract cases against the United States in the Court of Federal Claims and before the Federal Circuit.
Prior to joining Williams & Connolly, Mr. Scarborough served as a law clerk for the Honorable Alan C. Kay, a federal judge for the District of Hawaii. Mr. Scarborough has been a partner of the firm since 2007. He has presented on various legal topics within the firm and at the American Conference Institute’s annual conference on Drug & Medical Device Litigation.
